Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Japanese anemone (windflower; thimbleweed)
Japonica hupehensis
The Japanese anemone begins its bloom in the late summertime. It is native to China, and was discovered there in 1844. It was taken to England when Japanese gardens came into vogue. They have since naturalized there, and it is from which most garden hybrids are bred. It has been naturalized in Japan for hundreds of years. It can be found on cool, open slopes in North America, and in Europe.
* -------------------------- *
Looking very demure, this anemone has not yet opened itself to the world. While captured in the autumn, this bloom looks like it is keeping itself warm in springtime's chill.
It is not quite perfect, yet looks so coy and cozy in its fuzzy warm petal sweater,...
